Leveling this Artifact

A note on leveling on this artifact:  nightmare, succubus and mahr are all female mobs, so doing the diamond loop in DF yields decent XP progress in addition to the normal dia/sapphy seal grind.  Feb 18

Strategy:

Talk to Khonorn at loc 60508 37771 Mesothalassa.  He is surrounded by Khonorn’s Cohorts and are all neutral..  Conversation with Khonorn. - Redmeer Dragonsheart  (screen shots from Landis)

1.  Get the five idols of Sobek.  Hunt High preists/priestess in any of the three triton areas in meso (Skyros, Mellos, Naxos). One of the locs for them in Meso is 47k, 17k.  Get the gold, green, black, silver, and red one. Mobs are yellow/oj and usually have 2 bafs with them.

2. Take them to Kohorn at approx loc of 55k, 40k, hes a sobekite type mob, cons purple hopefully neutral to you. Get his half of the broken key.

Linos spawns at all 3 camps.   Does not drop Artifact every time.

Read the tips to see where/how you can find Linos.
3. Linos did not drop anything except the Barnacle Encrusted Key which opened the Barnacle Encrusted Chest.  When you give him the half of the emerald key, Linos says to you basiscally "Ha ha, tricked you, now I have the contents of the chest. Nya! Go away!". He remains neutral.   Then I attacked him and we killed him. He drops the key and I used it on the chest.  - Kardinal

I've checked all three triton tribe areas, and found a Barnacle Encrusted Chest in each:
Skyros Chest:6.9k x 24k
Naxos Chest: 49.9k 18.5k
Melos Chest: 35.6k x 47.4k    Nov 13

Tips:

I found Linos at the melos location (38086, 44205 - he spawned in front of the medium-sized rock right west from the location). In this area, Minkhat (A croc-man, purple with a lot of oranges with him) often comes by and kills all the melos around the rock (you will be safe at the location provided). He also attacks Linos when he's up. I was not able to take advantage of this, because I attacked when Linos was pretty much dead. Unable to talk to him, but didn't try dropping my key on him. I Hope to encounter this again sometime and try dropping the key during battle, or at least getting his aggro on me befor death.
Minkhat and his minons are able to take Linos out with only some damage delt to minkhat. I'm not sure how well it would go once he manages his "powered-up" state when a key is givin'.  Feb 9

From my scouting i believe that Linos spawns at each site for only 20 mins. (or 8 game hours 0:00-8:00, 8:00-16:00, 16:00-24:00). After his 20 mins he will despawn unless it is within 10 mins of you starting the encounter (per patch notes).

I've been camping/studying this artifact for almost 2 months...I have deduced that he may spawn every 2 hours. I found him one day at 2:30 p.m. in Naxos. Then went back the next day at 8:30 p.m. and he was at Skryos, then 2 hours later he was in Mellos at 10:30 p.m.. So my assumption would be that he spawns ever 2 or 4 hours. I'll let you know more about spawn times the more I camp it. I did find him last night at 10:30 p.m. and had a full grp to kill him. 2 paladins, 2 mercs, earth thuergist, friar, necro, cleric. Was relatively easy for being a lvl 75 mob, only person to die was the friar. Linos sent spam out when he was getting ready to go after the friar as he was the main healer, cleric was a bot.
We killed him and he dropped the key.  Feb 5
- Serpantor Sorrowblades

The one time i tracked him. He spawned in skyros, despawned and appeared in naxos, then despawned and appeared in Melos. Then was not at any of the three locs. locs are skyros (approx 8k,18k in the aclove with a pillar). Naxos (approx 50k,20k main fort wanders the corner near the tidal lord). The Melos chest is around 35k, 45k in Meso for Linos spawn.  (Melos loc from Tosalius)

Is a pain to find a group when you see him, best bet is to have keys at the ready while hunting priests. Is a tough fight with 6 50s but doable.   Dec 8

Found off Linos. We found him at 50k 20k in Mesothassala. Ultra-rare spawn, and he only stayed spawned for a few minutes. Doesnt wait around to get killed.   Nov 30

I found Linos and got the reward.
I had found Khoronos (whatever his name is) and gotten half the key last night. Also last night I was farming Sykros for about 6 hours.
Today I wake up and my guild is farming Sykros. I go to join them and lo and behold...there's Linos! Right in the middle of the Sykros. No idea why he popped. So I talk to him, give him the key, and he puts on a breastplate. Then I have to kill him.
Had a full group of one cleric, one friar, 3 paladins, Inf, Minstrel, Scout. All RR5-RR10. Was relatively easy. No instas used.
So we kill him off, I go over to the chest (just north of him, still in Sykros territory), and open it. Gave me a ROG necklace.    Nov 15

the spawn is 2-4hrs and he depsawns in 15mins  Dec 13
- Dzza ReallyHatesEnchanters

- After taking Khonorn's half of the key, Linos would remain in his powered up state for ten minutes. After ten minutes he returns to normal and will no longer drop the "Barnacle Encrusted Key" or his other potential loot. Now if he is in he powered up he will remain so for ten minutes after the start of each fight that is started while he's powered up. This will ensure that a group who is forced to retreat from him gets a fair second shot at taking him out. (from Nov 26 hot fix)

"Linos" is the mob you seek. Purple con neutral (triton looking) told me of the Khonorn half a key, open the chest jazz. I still haven't managed to find Khonorn to give him the 5 idol's yet but I seen Linos last in the Skyros camp around 8300,20k meso.    Nov 15
