About summoning and equiping the items created:
It works fine for my cleric.
Can only summon weapon between 6pm and 6am game time.
I have found that when I am wearing several artifacts that /use2 you need to right click on the artifact as if to delve it then type /use2 so the correct artifact is activated.   Jan 26

Sunmoon Islands in Oceanus Boreal (15k, 30k)

Just got an answer on an Appeal:
The Belt of the Moon is a Random Spawn. As such, there is no time period it can be gauranteed to spawn.   Jan 25

Friend and I did this by ourselves last night, very easy artifacts to obtain:
Me: 50 Hero
Grahf: 50 Eldritch
Collection of three islands behind the towering temple off the coast of Stygia, not too far away, just head out there and you'll see them.

One island is filled with orange/yellow con protectors of the dark, the other ones filled with protectors of the day, which look like little flaming balls, each island also comes equipped with orange con archers that travel as a group and guard the pedestal which you should be able to see when you get on the island, they are called hesperis (not sure exact name, but it doesn't matter). The third island is uninhabited, not sure why, but I know the spawn changes between the three islands since I suicided on the "uninhabited" island at one point before I knew what the hell this place was about.

*** Do not try to brute force the belt, you will die, and even if you get to the pedestal it doesnt' let you grab the belt, there is a magical force protecting them that you need the key to disable, explained below ***

Walkthrough: this applies to both the sun and the moon belt, since they are identical.

1. Get onto the island, do not use the ramp near the center of the three islands since the hesperis tend to stand there waiting before the encounter is triggered, and they hurt.

2. Begin pulling the protectors of the xxx.

3. After you kill a few, you will see the hesperis march into formation around the pedestal, now you have to be a little more cautious. They will not come after you, but they have a huge aggro radius, just try to get a feel for where they can see you, you will know because they will turn to face you, that's when you know you've gone too far, back up before they try to murder you.

4. Continue avoiding hesperis aggro, while pulling the protectors, nearsight with it's long range is great for this since sometimes the little bastards insist on putting themselves in the center of the hesperis guard.

5. After you kill all the protectors (dont worry about speed, they won't repop). The person who got the last kill gets a key.

6. What we did at this point was kinda sloppy but effective: We weren't about to kill all the hesperis guys, so since he got the key, I basically stood close enough to get ALL the guys to aggro me while he made a mad dash for the pedestal. He snagged the belt, got out of aggro range, I died, we got the belt.

* Make sure the person without the key doesn't approach the pedestal, not only will you get nuked to hell, I have heard the belt vanishes when you do this, if you are using my technique, just get close enough that they all aggro you.

7. Repeat for the second belt.

All in all it took about an hour and a half for both belts, but we were BSing and taking our time, and I was screwing aroudn with the hesperis guys testing their AI (which is set to murder-turret mode).

Paraphrased Descriptions, btw, both are tradeable, as I assume all artifacts are, I only mention this because I was worried that if he picked it up he couldn't trade it (i r an artifact newb):

Belt of the Sun: Usable by those in the front lines of battle as well as those with skill in archery.

Belt of the Moon: Usable by those who heal their allies or use power to make things fall down (very loose translation :p )     11/14

Killed all the spawned mobs on islands.  On sun island the belt had disappeared.  Went to the 3rd island and used key, and got Sun Belt.  Got key for moon belt, tried same thing, but says only works if the belt isn't already on a platform.  So... if belt on platform suicide, but if not there you can get it by Using the key on 3rd island.  Dec 25

Tips:

If you are a stealther:
I'm a 50 necro on alb bors. A 50 scout guildie and I did both the Belt of the Sun quest and the Belt of the moon quest with absolutely no problem. As a necro, I wasn't even really needed, providing only a few af debuffs and occaisonal mana tapping (along with abs buff). The scout pulled from a distance, his range being more than the statues, and we dealt with the protector mobs almost one at a time. When we had finished the mobs (he always killed the last one so that he would get the key, we didn't know how my pet would affect the quest), he, with the key, would stealth past the statues and get the belt. We did this for both of the belts, and it never disappeared and the statues never aggroed him while he was stealthed. We only did this once for each, so I'm not sure if this tactic would work every time, but I thought you
might find this interesting.   Jan 5

Basically i pulled the flames with my debuffs keeping my pets on stay mode, after all the mobs were killed i basically got the belt by sending in my pets to get aggro from the statues then running in grabbing the belt & getting out without taking dmg. It's a decent strategy for any pet class or if a pet class is in a group you can sacrifice the pets.   Jan 31

Valewalker’s Nature’s Shield style can come in handy for this encounter, as the style blocks 100% of arrow shots.  I used this while pulling protectors that were closer to the hesperis.  I imagine this could be even more useful to distract the hesperis while a buddy makes the run for the belt, as the valewalker would take very little damage.  Dec 30

When we did this, the protectors around the Belt of the Moon were much more aggresive than those protecting the Belt of the Sun and will swarm so make sure the group is ready before pulling them.  A necro in our group who was not at the same physical point on the island as the rest of our group, was consistently attacked by three protectors when the group pulled.
The Hespians will pop stealth but do not see through camo. (tested several times) However, a shield tank received the key and was employed to obtain the belt once the protectors were eliminated. The procedure for that is simple   Dec 22

Just a little warning for anyone attempting to get this artifact.
DON'T go near the pedestal where the belt is till u have the Key.
Has a nasty Fire Barrier that instantly killed my entire group when we moved close to kill the  last few protectors of the light

##The Belt of the Moon reads, "I have come to the Planes to learn about the Belts of the Sun and Moon. One is the Belt of the Sun. The other is the Belt of the Moon. They are a curiosity, for they are made in Atlantis, of Atlantean  metals, imbued with Atlantean magic, but there is another aspect to these items which is very disturbing. "

##The Belt of the Moon reads, "It would seem the belts are items particular to some strange religion. I have been tasked with determine more about this religion, its gods and goddesses and priests and priestesses, and if it is at all  harmful to Atlantean's ordered and progressive nature. I am currently trying to get the Belt of the Moon, but am unsure how to proceed."

##The Belt of the Moon reads, "The creatures of the planes are little help to me. They refuse to help me determine the source of this new religion, or even its basic tenants. I am not sure about this new religion or this item. I will have to go to the islands and see for myself what this strange item is, and does."
