50% Abs Proc lasts one minute and procs one in three swings (The 50% abs proc takes 50% of the bonus to opponents styled damage, for example if someone hits you for +100 because of a style (not resists or base damage) the spears proc will absorb 50 damage. There is no cap to how much it will absorb, it just lasts a minute.

Aura of Kings:  Target has improved armor and health while within range of this aura.
    Bonus:  5%

    Duration:  5 sec
    Frequency:  5 sec
    Casting time:  instant
    Radius:  1500
    This spell is cast when the item is used.

The Aura of Kings spell on the Spear of Kings will now affect a maximum of twenty players.

 Q: Just curious if the abs proc off Spear of Kings stacks with or overrides the ablative melee health proc you can get put on player crafted armor?

Leveling the Artifact:

Gorgons are for the Golden Spear, I'm pretty sure they don't do the SoK. I just dinged mine 10 last night, here were the best spots imo
1. Orange/Red Jinni's if the Golden Spear encounter is down (Can also do the Harpy Cloak at the same time)
2. Orange/Yellow Harpies (Can also do the Winged Helm at the same time)
3. All Glimmers in Sheeroe Hills
4. My favorite way to level this was to attend ML5 raids. Most mobs in that dungeon gave magical xp. I think I got right around a level each time I did ML5     Feb 4

By the way it levels off of Magical creatures of all kinds. I leveled it basically off of Harpies and Warshades in the epic zone.(hib)

The jannis that are up when the Golden Spear encounter is not. They will register as magical creatures (Spear of Kings) and they are also Jannis (Harpy Feather Cloak). Hope that helps. Those mobs are only up when the 3 named Djinns have recently been killed.  Dec 24

Strategy:

This encounter has been made a lot harder than it was, here are one explorers notes:
Well we tried the Spear Of Kings today 3 times, a few things you should know magic will NOT work on him, it is fine to get the harpies out into the sunlight but he will resist everything, also He WILL and DOES cast on people outside the temple all the way back to the stares now, you can target him from outside but "Cant see your target" so the hunters can't use the bows from outside he will aggro on the healers fast, and it now resets a lot faster then the run swim from Aerus to the temple if no one is interacting with the mob <send your pet to keep it going, the pet dies but stops it from starting over> and last but not least even after a 2-3 hr fight that had started over 3 or 4 times we did kill it and the harpies. BUT Mythic in all of there WISDOM has made it a "NOT A GUARANTEED DROP" !   Jan 24

Another time, people did this and turns out they did not need a ram:
We got the door down, went in, theurgist pet spammed with power fields up and fire wiz nuked him to death in about 30 seconds. We didn't even GET any harpy aggro, we killed him so fast. If we hadn't had to break the stupid door down in the first place he would have died in one minute from start to finish.  Jan 5

Here's what we do in Hibernia:

5 People was last successful attempt(Probably can be done with 4):
-Level 50 Shield Tank (My Champ, RR2L9- MoB III 42 + 10 shield; 50 Valor)
-Level 50 Animist (Not sure what spec.. Mans the ram) <---- very important
-Level 50 Druid (Blue con spec buffs... has 100% rez so pretty high Reg. I'm guessing)
-Level 50 Bard (Decent Regrowth but still has End 5 and Power Song 4)
-Level 40ish Druid (Decent heals)

Start of fight, we ALL go in (using door nearest Aerus facing it; not sure what direction- it's not the doors facing straight towards the cliff).... I whoof at Olmagion... he runs to activate his little door contraption. Doors close... Animist sets up the ram.

I obviously miss most of my blows.... and Olmagion whacks the heck out of me.. no sweat... druid heals and gains aggro. Guard on druid.. intercept when available... engage. I block most of Olmagion's hits, but sometimes, he successfully hits the druid. What the druid does is heal himself when I block for him to maintain aggro.

Eventually, the animist successfully knocks the door down, we immediately run out and I keep fighting Olmagion, dragging him near the door.

Animist begins spamming low level shrooms as I fight him. With enough up, they begin to hit him and I land all my debuffs on him (especially str/con so he takes more dmg from them).... Harpies do pop but don't aggro fast enough before Olmagion dies. Grab loot and run out the door.

On the fourth attempt, we finally got it and it dropped as the pitted Spear of Kings... I simply ran out the temple and it transformed into the real Spear of Kings... noting how it was free from Olmagion's grasp.

Harpies were still alive... one door knocked down from the inside... shrooms pretty much killed it.. still got credit.    Jan 1

Tips:

Killing him: he is in the Temple of Kings a short swin directly North of the Notos pier.
This is how we did it in about 20 min
1 shield tank
3 lg wep tanks
PBAEer
warden
druid
bard
shield tank engaged while the group took down a door after door down we pulled him near door and shield tank held agro while the lg wep tanks anihilated from behind if they took agro they would detuant until I got agro back (shield tank) when the harpies spawned (when he is about 20% health) we had the PBAEer nail them and run outside. When the harpies pass the door they die. As soon as he dies we all run out the door so we haven't had to deal with the harpies stealing the spear. Rumor is if they steal the spear it will be a ghost like grape harpy just kill him immediately and the spear drops again and then run outside   11/10

We completed spear of kings mob in the Temple with the following group:
2 thanes, warrior, 2 skalds, 2 healers, runey, ungrounded shaman for endo.
Basically we brought along a ram, after failing on him a few times. What we figured out was that if you can ram down the door, and if everyone happens to wipe you can come back and the door will still be down if you come back straight away. With our encounter we happened to wipe on him when the harpys spawned as we couldn’t get them outside quick enough and agro from the purple monster killed the healers. We released back to aerus, buffed up quick then ran back and ran straight back inside and meleed him again. This time we left the healers and shaman outside.
We found that neither the main mob or the harpees would attack anyone outside at all, not even with nukes while they were being engaged on the inside. At 20% he spawned more pops of harpes and we just agroed them one by one and dragged them outside, runey also ran in, nuked 2 and ran out to kill them.   Nov 24

Midgard groups should have no problem doing this encounter. Drag him to the door farthest from the healing node. The farther he is away from the node the less it heals him for. From there just have a Shaman disease him, yes the disease will stick on him even though it may be resisted a few times. Once, he is diseased and far away from the node he drops in no time.  Dec 22

I did it in mid with 6 people.. not even that great a group. 1 healer 2 shamans 1 rm 1 skald 1 zerker. It took about 45 minutes or so but it was just long not hard really. lol we didn't know about the harpies dying outside thing so we did it w/o rams and waited till he was dead to bust our way out
harpies weren't really a problem tho, the rm blew them up for us  Dec 21

The first few times we did it we could not get him down past about 30-40%, when we pulled him towards the door on a later attempt it seemed that it made the difference.     11/11

After we killed this guy in addition to droping the Spear of Kings he also droped this weapon.
I believe there are also blunt and slash versions of this droped by this guy that have the same stats.  Is a nice left hand weapon for a BM.  It has a Bonus to melee combat speed:  5%.   Nov 14
